Robbie has spend his lifetime creating perfectly beautiful outsider-folk. he grew up in Framingham MA and struggled with mental health issues, which led to therapy, rooming houses, and drop in centers. He spent many years vagabonding across the country, volunteering with food not bombs and finding a community in punk houses and crash pads.
Through it all, a constant stream of spirituality runs through his life and music. Refences to Christ, Orthodox Saints, Hindu Gods, Sacred Hearts, and Spirits show up in many songs. He has wandered through spirituality like he wanders the land, taking pieces with him to
create a holistic spiritual outlook that seeps out of his songs like the tears of a weeping icon.
You can hear the influences of Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, Chris Bell, and Lou Reed in his music. But Robbie writes from the soul, and his lyrics and guitar playing are utterly unique. There is a dissonance that sits unsettled in the guitar that gives a slight tension under the gentle sometimes almost whispered vocals.
Through his travels, Robbie has always found a way to record his music, either by himself with four track recorders or with friends that assist in the process. He has recorded in Boston MA, Portland OR, Arroyo Grande, CA, and Portland ME.
Robbie is 54 and currently resides in Portland ME and is continually painting and recording.
